Little Bustard, Tetrax tetra

Santa Cruz de Mudela, Spain
We had arrived at a small pop-up hide before sunrise, to be in position before the Little Bustard appeared. The hide was set-up on a lekking ground. The bird is starting its display by throwing its head back and uttering a clicking call. This precedes the main display: jumping into the air and spreading its wings to slow its descent. This is a male bird in breeding plummage, with a distinctive black neck 'ruff' and the double-V white collar.
