Near Cremenes, Leon, Spain
A large amount of animal bones and offal had been put out to attract the vultures and we carefully scanned the skies to see if any birds were coming in. It did not take long for us to spot a few vultures circling high above us. This went on for 20-30 minutes and then suddenly there must have been 40 or 50 vultures suddenly descending on the food. It was a melee and I found it difficult to photograph - so many birds all together. I decided that the best approach was to look to the margins of the group and to try to get individual birds. This one was coming in to land at speed.
