I had been trying to photograph badgers in day light and had got some images of captive badgers at the West Country Wildlife Centre, but I really wanted to photograph wild animals. This shot was taken from a hide, run by Alan McFadyen (Scottish Photography Hides (see Links page). It was taken in the summer at around 19:15, when daylight hours are extended. The badgers were emerging from their sett and moving off into the woodland to forage.
